xLM Solutions Managing Partner Ilan Madjar and I had a great time getting together with the 3DEXPERIENCE and SOLIDWORKS community for 3DEXPERIENCE World 2023! This year, the Dassault Systèmes event theme was “Imagine all we can achieve together,” and while the event logo put the emphasis on “Imagine,” the word that resonated with me was “together!”
The conference was hybrid, with virtual attendance offered for those who couldn’t make it to Tennessee in person, but Ilan and I were boots on the ground in the massive Music City Center in the heart of downtown Nashville. We were joined Feb. 12-15 by roughly 4,000 SOLIDWORKS and DELMIAWorks users, designers, engineers, manufacturers, students and innovators and saw many more tuning into events online.
One takeaway that struck me immediately is that this year’s event really focused on 3DEXPERIENCE versus the traditional topics that relate to SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS PDM. This isn’t surprising considering SOLIDWORKS World transitioned to 3DEXPERIENCE World in 2020, but I do think the shift in content reinforces the direction Dassault Systèmes is headed in with its solutions.

3DEXPERIENCE World 2023 was an Opportunity to Network, Learn and Grow
3DEXPERIENCE World 2023 was an incredible opportunity to be back among our colleagues and customers, talking shop, participating in hands-on sessions and learning from one another face to face. Ilan and I had countless opportunities to share with so many of you how xLM Solutions provides specialized services and solutions to best implement and configure the 3DEXPERIENCE platform for your specific needs.
Everyone was so excited that attendees literally raced into the first day’s general session, which focused on people and businesses that are imagining a new future that is shaped by design. Speakers discussed how SOLIDWORKS and the evolving 3DEXPERIENCEWorks make it possible to push the limits of our imaginations.
There was oohing and ahhing, and everybody in the room cheered when it was announced that starting this July, the SOLIDWORKS subscription model includes cloud services for every seat, for easy access to the platform from any browser-based app.
That set the stage perfectly for the virtual session I hosted later that day. “SOLIDWORKS PDM Data Migration and Integration Strategies” was a 45-minute presentation on best practices and strategies for loading data from legacy systems into SOLIDWORKS PDM. I provided examples of loading data from Autodesk Vault to SOLIDWORKS PDM and merging more than one PDM vault.
I also talked about the considerations and assessments that are necessary for a well-organized data loading, different methods to load the data and how to validate the data once loaded. In addition, I touched upon simple ways SOLIDWORKS PDM can integrate with other systems, such as SharePoint.
I got a lot of great questions and feedback after the presentation — there in Nashville and once we returned home — so it’s great to see xLM resonate with people in the user community.
Truly the best part of the event was sharing knowledge and engaging with each other. The energy level was sky high. To all of you who were in Nashville with us, thanks so much for an excellent experience. Drop me a line and let’s pick up where we left off at the end of the event.
If you weren’t able to join us, reach out to me and I can catch you up. And as always, if you’d like help implementing 3DEXPERIENCE solutions, get in touch anytime.
I’m already looking forward to seeing you in Dallas next February for 3DEXPERIENCE World 2024!
