For me there’s nothing more exciting than creating a new widget that enhances and improves the user experience with PLM solutions. It’s one of the best parts of my job.

As we’ve described before in an earlier blog, 3DEXPERIENCE Widget Fundamentals, widgets in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform are specialized applications that extend and improve the operations of 3DX. They are configurable, resizable, movable and shareable and they can retrieve data from internal and external sources. Widgets are lightweight HTML-based applications, and they load quickly, making them easy to use.

3DX Part List/BOM Report Widget

We recently developed a new Part List/BOM Report widget for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. With this widget, users can execute a report on a physical product (engineering items) and generate and export part lists and BOM reports.

Users can download the widget directly onto their 3DX dashboard. The widget extracts BOM information, item master information and linked data and makes it available for export to Excel, HTML or other formats. With the widget, users can generate custom BOM reports that align with specific organization business logic and downstream applications. It extends the BOM reporting functionality of 3DX.
